Cowgirl Photo Shoot

This is a shirt that my mom saved of mine. It was hanging in the closet and Hallie insisted on wearing it. All we need are some boots! I love the hand in the pocket.

Oliver with the Fam

Here are some pics from our first day home.

Oliver Allan Fischer

Oliver arrived on Friday March 13th at 1:35 pm! He weighed in at 8 pounds 1.5 ounces, 21 inches long. I have put the labor and delivery out of my memory, so I cannot go into detail about that. He has a good set of lungs and seems to be gassy, but I am hoping that passes quickly and is not the ordeal it was with Carson. We are all so pleased to have another boy in our family! Princess Cousins

Montana and Hallie enjoyed the company of Mylee and Macy on Monday! Thankfully for me they played and occupied themselves the entire day. Unfortunately for the cousins, Tana is used to playing alone and wants to make up all the "rules" or dole out suggestions for what they should be doing during each activity. (Basically, she's bossy.) They did all this dressing up themselves and I am glad I caught a photo before they moved on to something else. We wish our cousins lived closer!

A Post for Hallie, who is soon to be a BIG sister.

I thought it was cute that Hallie wanted to lay by the fire and she had to get her blanket and pillow just right. I also wanted to show off our awesome mantel!

We have been butting heads many many times a day over the last week. In this particular instance, she had drawn all over her hands with marker. Then when she was scolded for it she went into the crying fit and I tried to stop her from putting her hands on her face, but that only made her do it more. So I was trying to get her picture, but she would not take her hands away! Thank goodness for washable markers.
We haven't had very many pleasant interactions lately, and I haven't played with her at all. I can't even handle being upstairs right now because it is so disgusting. I'm talking trashed! But yesterday I got the brilliant idea to pull the mega blocks and mr. potato head out of the playroom closet and bring them downstairs where I could play with her and put back in their containers right away. We've had some very good playtime together over the last two days (among all the head-butting). She was nice enough to pose with our potato head family here.

What Are You Waiting For?

God has been bringing up this theme of waiting with me a lot lately! It started at the ladies retreat. Since then, He has continually been trying to remind me that there is purpose in the wait.

Listen to my devotional passage from this morning:

Psalm 40:1-5
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord.
Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.
Many, O Lord my God,
are the wonders you have done.
The things you planned for us
no one can recount to you;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare.

Psalm 130:5
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I put my hope.

I am waiting for many things in this season of my life. But my current "big" wait is for this baby to arrive! Matt is waiting for career advancement into a job we feel God has gifted him with the skills, qualifications, and heart to fill. His wait is agonizing for me as well, as my heart desires him to be fulfilled in his career.

But the fact is that while we are waiting, God is working. To move us to where he wants us to be. We are not good "waiters." But I pray that God's purpose will be served in our wait.

What are you waiting for? And how well are you waiting for it?

At least she's sleeping...

After resolving to keep Hallie in the crib until some time after this baby arrives and not worrying about the "baby's" room, I have been relaxed at least about not having to do anything in that room. My main focus with Hallie has been getting her back into a good sleep routine. We have had mostly good nights over the last two weeks, with a few early morning wake-ups, but she is still resisting naps. In order to have her nap at a regular time, I have to get her in bed pretty early because she will stay awake for almost an hour in her bed every time. She is not usually crying, but playing and talking, singing and jumping. And stripping. When I decided to let her stay in this room/bed for sleep times, I put the side back on the crib so that she would not be able to get out of bed and have access to all the stuff on the changing table. So, as you can see, while she is contained, she still finds ways to manipulate the situation. This is today after an hour of doing what she does. When she got quiet, I peeked in to see the damage. I wonder if she's cold? At least she hung on to the diaper, maybe she was trying to get it back on, I don't know.
